Meidling Bridge

Vienna, Austria

Our project reimagines infrastructure as a qualitative public space, where even the daily commute becomes an exceptional experience. By integrating green spaces, gathering areas, and cultural programs, we transform a transit corridor into a vibrant urban environment.
The elevated square serves as a multifunctional public space, defined by a sculptural lamp post as a landmark. It offers flexible event spaces, a skate park, sports fields, and a wildflower meadow for relaxation. The amphitheater-style seating creates an open-air venue for concerts, lectures, and outdoor cinema. “Enzo” benches celebrate Vienna’s cultural identity while offering informal gathering spaces.
Our design prioritizes tree preservation, interpreting the bridge as a treetop trail for an immersive natural experience. Permeable materials and natural swales enhance biodiversity and sustainable drainage.
A barrier-free design ensures accessibility with elevators, ramps, tactile paving, and auditory navigation. The result is a space that fosters inclusion, transforming the act of moving through the city into a memorable and enriching experience.
